Hospital and Marie's Birthday
Soooo it has been a few days since I last wrote. A lot has gone on, and I am amazingly tired, but I thought I would at least try and update this a little bit.
Masie ended up being admitted to the hospital for a couple of days. She had a high fever and was quite dehydrated. Poor thing. She really felt terrible, and Heath and I felt horrible for her. She got catherized, got blood drawn, and an IV placed. She was not too impressed at all with the hospital. Heath and I were, though; they took great care of her. I slept at the hospital with her. She refused the cage/crib and opted to sleep beside me on the pull-out couch that was a little smaller than a twin sized bed. Her arm which had her IV in it was placed on a board, so she slept with the arm straight out, leaving me about 6 inches. She also decided that she wanted to breastfeed throughout the night. Needless to say, it was not a pretty night for anyone.
However, she is a little better but is still having fevers and feeling pretty crummy. They found an ear infection today to top the whole thing off! I know this will all pass, but it seems like eternity right now, and I would give almost anything for a good night's rest. Alas, Frank told me today that I was earning my Mommy Badge.
My birthday was yesterday, but we didn't feel like we could leave Masie or take her out, for that matter, so Garland and Kat brought by a cake, and it ended up being very nice and relaxing. When they arrived, I was already in my pajamas.
I am 34 years old! Wow! It is not that I feel that old really. It is just the number that sounds so foreign. I remember thinking 20 was old. I really do...
I hope this finds all of you well and happy.
Marie
